Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with HIV-1 Nef subtypes A, B, and C.
It recognizes BRU, IIIB, LAV, and BH10 strains, and has been mapped to amino acids 171–190 (HGMDDPEREVLEWRFDSRLA).
This clone may also be referred to as 3A2 (01-006).
Target Information
HIV-1 Nef is one of the accessory proteins synthesized in the early stage of AIDS virus reproduction and is abundantly found in infected cells.
Initially thought to be a “negative factor,” Nef is now recognized as a key protein contributing to the distinctive biological characteristics of the AIDS virus.
It interacts directly with host T-cell signal transduction proteins, influencing infection efficiency, long-term survival of infected cells, and inducing apoptosis in uninfected cells.
Nef also mediates endocytosis and degradation of receptor proteins such as CD4 and MHC, which are important for viral infection.
