Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The high-mobility group (HMG) proteins 14 and 17 are abundant chromosomal proteins that bind to nucleosomes and enhance transcription. These proteins act as architectural elements, altering chromatin structure and promoting transcription from chromatin templates. HMG-14/17 modify the nucleosomal organization of the 30 nm chromatin fiber and mediate unfolding of higher-order chromatin structures, facilitating access to underlying DNA sequences. Clustering of HMG proteins and linker histone subtypes into distinct domains may create structural and functional heterogeneity along the chromatin fiber. Additionally, HMG-14 and HMG-17 are constitutive components of mouse oocyte and embryonic chromatin, linking chromatin structure to normal embryonic development.
