- 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45839 detects Alpha Synuclein in 15 µg of human brain cell lysate by ECL immunoblot using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP secondary antibody.
- Binds within the 81–130 aa region of human alpha synuclein (confirmed by WB and ELISA).
- Detects approximately 14 kDa band (Alpha Synuclein) and a 30 kDa dimer band.
Target Information
Alpha-synuclein is a member of the synuclein family (including beta- and gamma-synuclein). These proteins are abundant in the brain and regulate synaptic transmission and membrane trafficking.
Alpha- and beta-synuclein selectively inhibit phospholipase D2, suggesting roles in signaling pathways.
Defects in the SNCA gene (encoding alpha-synuclein) are linked to Parkinson’s disease. Alpha-synuclein peptides form amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease brains.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts encode different isoforms.
