Target Information
SOX9는 Sertoli 세포의 성 결정 및 분화에 관여하며, 연골형성(chondrogenesis) 과정에서 중요한 역할을 하는 전사 인자입니다.
이 유전자의 전위(translocation)는 campomelic dysplasia를 유발할 수 있습니다.
SOX9는 중성 태아 생식선으로부터 고환 형성에 관여하며, 척수 발달 중 neuron-glia 전환의 주요 분자 구성 요소로 작용합니다.
정상 발달 동안 SOX9는 전립선 상피가 간엽으로 성장하도록 유도하고, luminal epithelium의 발달 및 유지에 필요한 기저 세포 지지를 제공합니다.
이 기능은 전립선암에서 종양 성장 및 침습을 촉진하는 방향으로 전환될 수 있습니다.
또한 SOX9는 neural crest 전구체 형성과 다양한 neural crest 유래 세포 발달을 조절하며, 멜라닌 생성 관련 유전자 발현을 조절합니다.
Northern blot 분석 결과, 성체 고환, 성체 심장, 태아 뇌에서 발현이 확인되었습니다.
