Metadherin (MTDH, Metastasis adhesion protein)은 LYRIC(LYsine-RIch CEACAM1 co-isolated)으로도 알려진 단백질로, 극성 상피세포의 tight junction 단백질(ZO-1, occludin)과 함께 국소화됩니다.
Tight junction 형성 과정에서 구조적 성분보다는 복합체 성숙에 관여합니다.
MTDH는 유방암 조직 및 종양 이식편에서 과발현되며, 정상 유방 조직에서는 낮은 수준으로 발현됩니다.
Metadherin은 폐 혈관 내피에 결합하며, 이는 유방암 전이의 주요 부위 중 하나입니다.
C-말단 영역의 결합 부위를 항체로 차단하거나 siRNA로 억제하면 유방암 전이를 억제할 수 있음이 보고되었습니다.
