Target Information

Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein with a molecular weight of approximately 65–67 kDa and constitutes about half of the blood serum protein. Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in human plasma, with a serum half-life of approximately 20 days. It primarily functions as a carrier for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones, and helps maintain extracellular fluid volume stability.

Albumin is a globular, unglycosylated serum protein synthesized in the liver as pre-pro-albumin, which undergoes N-terminal peptide removal before secretion. It has high binding capacity for water, Ca²⁺, Na⁺, K⁺, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs. The main physiological role of albumin is the regulation of colloidal osmotic pressure in blood.
