Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
KRT16 is a member of the keratin gene family. Keratins are intermediate filament proteins that maintain epithelial cell structural integrity. They are categorized into cytokeratins and hair keratins.
Type I cytokeratins are acidic proteins arranged in heterotypic pairs and located on chromosome 17q12–q21.
KRT16 is coexpressed with keratin 14 in epithelial tissues such as the esophagus, tongue, and hair follicles.
Mutations in KRT16 are linked to type 1 pachyonychia congenita, non-epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma, and unilateral palmoplantar verrucous nevus.
