Product Specific Information

MA5-14528 targets ALK (Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase, p80) in IHC (P) and ICC/IF applications.
Shows reactivity with Human and Mouse samples.
The immunogen corresponds to a region spanning the tyrosine kinase catalytic domain and part of the C-terminus of the NPM-ALK transcript.

Target Information

Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays a vital role in brain development.
Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with various tumors, including:

  • Anaplastic large cell lymphoma
  • Neuroblastoma
  • Non-small cell lung cancer

Chromosomal rearrangement commonly produces a fusion gene combining ALK (chromosome 2) and nucleophosmin (NPM, chromosome 5).
The resulting NPM-ALK fusion product is oncogenic.
ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, which are absent in the transforming NPM-ALK product.
ALK shows high sequence similarity to LTK and is crucial for neuronal development.
