Product Specific Information

This antibody strongly stains the nucleus of epithelial cells in breast carcinomas. It reacts with ER alpha (67 kDa). No special pretreatment is required for IHC staining.


Target Information

Estrogen Receptors (ER) are members of the steroid/thyroid hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. The estrogen receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor that, upon estrogen binding, undergoes a conformational change enabling dimerization and binding to estrogen response elements (EREs) in DNA. This interaction regulates gene transcription through coactivator or corepressor recruitment.

There are two forms of the estrogen receptor, alpha and beta, encoded by ESR1 and ESR2 genes. Alternative RNA splicing produces at least four estrogen receptor-alpha isoforms (66, 53, 47, and 35 kDa). Estrogen receptors are expressed in various tissues and are crucial for sexual development, reproductive function, and bone physiology. They are implicated in pathological processes such as breast and endometrial cancers and osteoporosis.
