This peptide corresponds to 14 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human IL-23.
PEP-0357 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20238.
Target Information
IL-23 is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of the p40 subunit of IL-12 disulfide-linked with a protein p19. The p19 subunit, like p35 of IL-12, is biologically inactive by itself. IL-23 interacts with IL-12Rβ1 and a novel β2-like receptor subunit with a STAT4 binding domain, termed IL-23R.
IL-23 is secreted by activated mouse and human dendritic cells. Its biological activities differ from IL-12: mouse IL-23 does not induce significant IFN-γ but strongly promotes proliferation of memory T cells and induces IL-17 production.
Human IL-23 induces proliferation of memory T cells and moderate IFN-γ production by naive and memory T cells compared to IL-12.
