Description:
The eBioH35-17.2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8 beta molecule. The CD8 beta chain associates with the CD8 alpha chain to form the CD8 alpha/beta heterodimer expressed on most thymocytes and peripheral cytotoxic T cells. CD8 binds to MHC class I and plays a crucial role in T cell development and activation.

• Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes and thymocytes

Target Information

The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. Acting as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor, CD8 recognizes antigens presented by class I MHC molecules. The functional coreceptor can be either a homodimer (two alpha chains) or a heterodimer (one alpha and one beta chain). Both chains share homology with immunoglobulin variable light chains. The CD8B gene encodes the beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced variants described. A pseudogene is also located on chromosome 2.
