The eBio341 monoclonal antibody reacts with rat CD8β, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily that heterodimerizes with CD8α to form the CD8 antigen expressed on CD4+CD8+ thymocytes, MHC class I-restricted peripheral T cells, and some macrophages. CD8β expression depends on thymic T-cell development and participates in antigen presentation and signal transduction through Lck association.
Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting (WB), and immunohistochemistry. Functional assays should use Functional Grade purified eBio341 (341) Product #16-0080.
Applications Tested: Validated by flow cytometric analysis of rat splenocytes and thymocytes. Recommended ≤0.5 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration advised.

Target Information
CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes, mediating efficient immune cell interactions. CD8 acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor to recognize antigens presented by APCs via class I MHC molecules. The CD8 complex can form alpha-alpha homodimers or alpha-beta heterodimers, both homologous to immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene encodes CD8β isoforms and has multiple alternatively spliced variants, including a pseudogene on chromosome 2.
