Target Information
Immunoglobulin classes share the same basic four polypeptide chain structure of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa and lambda; both ~22.5 kDa). Kappa and lambda consist of variable and constant regions, distinguishable by their antigenic properties. The kappa to lambda ratio is typically 70:30. Antibodies to the kappa light chain are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.
