Immunoglobulin classes share the same basic structure composed of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa and lambda, each ~22.5 kDa).
Kappa and lambda chains have distinct antigenic properties, allowing differentiation based on their constant regions.
The typical ratio of kappa to lambda is approximately 70:30.
Antibodies targeting the kappa light chain are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
