Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by beta cells of the pancreatic islets. It regulates carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism by enhancing membrane transport of glucose, amino acids, and certain ions. It promotes glycogen storage, triglyceride formation, and synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids.
Insulin is a 51-amino acid polypeptide produced from proinsulin, which is cleaved into peptide A and B chains linked by disulfide bonds and one molecule of C-peptide.
Insulin deficiency causes diabetes mellitus and is also found in β-cell tumors such as insulinoma.
