Product Specific Information

Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.


Target Information

Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by beta cells of the pancreatic islets. It regulates carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism by enhancing membrane transport of glucose, amino acids, and certain ions.
It promotes glycogen storage, formation of triglycerides, and synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids.
Insulin is a 51-amino acid polypeptide produced from a precursor peptide, proinsulin, which is post-translationally cleaved into two chains (A and B) linked via two disulfide bonds and one molecule of C-peptide.
Insulin deficiency results in diabetes mellitus, a major cause of morbidity and mortality.
It is also present in tumors of β-cell origin such as insulinoma.
