This antibody specifically reacts with the amino terminal end of human NAG-1 protein from human tissues.
BLAST analysis suggests partial reactivity with NAG-1 from chimpanzee and macaque (92% homology).
Multimeric forms of NAG-1 may be detected.
Cross-reactivity with other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

GDF-15 belongs to the TGF-beta cytokine family, which plays a critical role in prenatal development, postnatal growth, and tissue remodeling.
It is predominantly expressed in the placenta, with lower expression in other tissues.
Presence in amniotic fluid and elevated serum levels in pregnant women suggest involvement in gestation and embryonic development.
GDF-15 generally exhibits tumor-suppressive activity and is induced by the p53 pathway.
Serum GDF-15 levels correlate with tumor progression in colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.
