Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
ABCA4 (ATP-Binding Cassette, Subfamily A, Member 4), also known as ABCR, is encoded by the ABCA4 gene. It belongs to the ATP-binding cassette transporter sub-family A (ABC1), found exclusively in multicellular eukaryotes.
This gene maps to 1p21–p13 and is expressed exclusively in retinal photoreceptor cells, mediating transport of essential molecules across the photoreceptor cell membrane.
Immunofluorescence microscopy and Western blot analyses show ABCR presence in foveal and peripheral cone, as well as rod photoreceptors. Loss of central vision in Stargardt macular dystrophy patients is linked to ABCR-mediated foveal cone degeneration.
