Product Specific Information

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).


Target Information

Calcineurin binding protein (Cabin-1) and its rat homolog, Cain, are widely expressed nuclear phosphoproteins that regulate the serine/threonine phosphatase activity of calcineurin and influence T cell signaling and apoptosis. Calcineurin is required for transcriptional activation of cytokines and activation of transcription factors such as NFAT, NFκB, and AP-1, involved in T cell receptor (TCR)-mediated signaling.
Regulation of calcineurin depends on intracellular calcium concentration changes and protein kinase C (PKC) activity. TCR activation induces PKC-mediated hyperphosphorylation of Cabin-1, promoting high-affinity binding to calcineurin. This complex inhibits calcineurin activity and attenuates TCR signaling.
Cabin-1 also associates directly with MEF-2 transcription factors, regulating apoptosis signaling in T cells. This interaction inhibits MEF-2-mediated gene transcription and apoptosis.
