EAF1과 EAF2는 ELL과 복합체를 형성하여 Pol II의 삼원 연장 복합체를 표적화하고 전사 연장 속도를 촉진합니다. 또한, 이들은 NuA4 히스톤 아세틸전이효소 복합체의 안정성에 기여하여 Histone H4 및 H2A의 아세틸화를 통해 특정 유전자의 전사를 활성화합니다.
EAF1과 EAF2는 모두 EAF 패밀리의 구성원으로, ELL과 함께 Cajal bodies 및 nuclear speckles에 공위치합니다. EAF1은 아스파르트산, 글루탐산, 세린 잔기가 풍부한 C-말단 영역을 포함하며, EAF2는 안드로겐 반응 유전자로서 강력한 세포자멸 유도 인자로 작용할 수 있습니다.
