Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antiserum is directed against human NOTCH1. Based on the immunogen sequence, it is expected to react with mouse and rat NOTCH1 (100% sequence homology). The antibody recognizes the cleaved intracellular (activated) form (NICD) and shows no reactivity with mouse Notch2, Notch3, or Notch4. The immunogen epitope is exposed only after gamma secretase cleavage and is not accessible in the uncleaved form.
Target Information
The Notch gene family encodes transmembrane proteins containing multiple cysteine-rich EGF-like repeats in the extracellular region. Four Notch genes (Notch1, Notch2, Notch3, Notch4/Int-3) are known in mammals and are involved in cellular differentiation, particularly in the nervous system. EGF-like proteins such as Delta and Serrate act as ligands for Notch1. Mature Notch proteins are heterodimeric receptors formed by cleavage of Notch pre-proteins into extracellular (NEC) and transmembrane (Ntm) subunits.
