This antiserum is directed against human NOTCH2. The immunogen epitope is exposed only after gamma secretase cleavage and not accessible in the uncleaved form.
Based on sequence analysis, this antibody is expected to also react with rat and mouse NOTCH2, with only one conservative amino acid difference.

Target Information

Neurogenic locus notch homolog protein 2 (NOTCH2) is a highly conserved protein in the Notch signaling pathway.
It is a type 1 transmembrane protein with:

• Extracellular domain containing multiple EGF-like repeats
• Intracellular domain composed of several distinct domain types

NOTCH2 acts as a receptor for membrane-bound ligands such as Jagged1, Jagged2, and Delta1, regulating cell fate determination.
Defects in NOTCH2 are associated with Alagille syndrome type 2 (ALGS2), an autosomal dominant multisystem disorder characterized by hepatic bile duct paucity and cholestasis, along with cardiac, skeletal, and ophthalmologic manifestations.
Other features include characteristic facial morphology and occasional renal or vascular involvement.
