Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. It reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate between ATP and phosphogens such as creatine phosphate. In the brain and other tissues, it acts as a homodimer, while in the heart it forms a heterodimer with a muscle isozyme. It belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase protein family. A pseudogene of this gene has been characterized.
