Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. It catalyzes the reversible transfer of phosphate between ATP and various phosphogens such as creatine phosphate.
In the brain and other tissues, it acts as a homodimer, and in the heart, it forms a heterodimer with a muscle isozyme.
This protein belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase family. A pseudogene of this gene has also been characterized.
