Target Information
The CK-BB protein is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. It catalyzes the reversible transfer of phosphate between ATP and phosphagens such as creatine phosphate. In the brain and other tissues, it functions as a homodimer, and in the heart, as a heterodimer with a muscle isozyme. It belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase protein family, and a pseudogene has been identified.
