Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD229 / Ly9, a 100–120 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed on T and B cells.
Target Information
CD229 (Ly9) is a cell surface receptor of the CD150 family, which also includes CD48 and CD224.
These receptors regulate cytokine production and cytotoxicity of lymphocytes and NK cells.
CD229 is highly expressed on T and B cells, with expression increasing during maturation.
It is absent on granulocytes, bone marrow-derived dendritic cells, platelets, and erythrocytes.
In mice, CD229 is also reported on monocytes and NK cells.
CD229 interacts homophilically via its N-terminal domain and localizes at the contact site between T cells and antigen-presenting B cells during immune synapse formation.
