The monoclonal antibody TS2/7 reacts with human CD49a (Integrin alpha 1), which forms a heterodimer with CD29 (Integrin beta 1) known as VLA-1 (Very Late Antigen-1).
This complex is expressed in endothelial cells, activated T cells, monocytes, subsets of NK and memory T cells, smooth muscle cells, and mesenchymal stem cells.
CD49a binds strongly to collagen IV and also interacts with collagen I, laminin, and semaphorin7A. It plays roles in cell survival, proliferation, homing, and inflammatory responses.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and validated for use at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test on stimulated human peripheral blood cells.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody staining a cell sample in 100 µL final volume (typically 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

Integrin alpha 1 (ITGA1) associates with beta 1 (ITGB1) to form a heterodimer acting as a dual laminin/collagen receptor in neural and hematopoietic cells.
ITGA1 contains a 206-amino acid I domain, three divalent cation-binding sites, a transmembrane region, and a short cytoplasmic tail.
It possesses 28 potential N-glycosylation sites and is expressed as a 180-kD protein in mouse fibroblast cell lines.
ITGA1 is implicated in early osteoarthritic cartilage remodeling and mesenchymal stem cell proliferation regulation.
