Target Information
CDH9 (cadherin-9) is a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily, integral membrane proteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Mature cadherin proteins consist of a large N-terminal extracellular domain, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a small, conserved C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. The extracellular region includes five subdomains with cadherin motifs that determine homophilic cell adhesion specificity. Type II cadherins lack the HAV recognition sequence typical of type I cadherins.
