UMP-CMP kinase 2 (CMPK2)는 인간 미토콘드리아에서 확인된 최초의 nucleoside monophosphate kinase입니다. 이는 뉴클레오타이드 합성의 salvage pathway 구성 요소로서, 단핵구 세포의 최종 분화에 관여할 수 있습니다. CMPK2는 두 개의 독립적인 도메인을 가지며, N-말단 도메인은 기능이 알려지지 않았고 C-말단 도메인은 kinase 기능을 수행합니다. CMPK2는 dUTP 및 dCTP 합성에 참여하고, 미토콘드리아 내에서 dCMP와 dUMP의 인산화를 담당합니다. 또한 macrophage 활성화 및 염증 반응에 적극적으로 관여합니다.
