Target Information
LIMK1 is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the regulation of actin cytoskeletal changes via phosphorylation of cofilin. It also plays a role in brain development. LIM domains are conserved cysteine-rich structures containing two zinc fingers that mediate protein-protein interactions. LIM kinase-1 and LIM kinase-2 form a small subfamily characterized by two N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal protein kinase domain. LIMK1 is considered a component of intracellular signaling pathways and has been linked to brain development and Williams syndrome.
