Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA, this protein belongs to the Rel family and forms a heterodimer with p50 or p52 subunits of NF-kB (Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells).
NF-kB p65 plays a crucial role in transcriptional regulation, particularly in the expression of the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells. Activation occurs via TNF-alpha signaling, leading to phosphorylation and degradation of IκB, allowing NF-kB translocation to the nucleus.
