Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The progesterone receptor (PR) is a member of the steroid family of nuclear receptors mediating the physiological effects of progesterone, crucial for reproductive processes such as pregnancy establishment and maintenance.
PR exists as two isoforms: a 94 kDa protein (Form A) and a 120 kDa protein (Form B), produced by alternative translation initiation sites.

  • PR-B: Transcriptionally active, responsible for gene activation related to endometrial maintenance, pregnancy, and inhibition of ovulation.
  • PR-A: Identical to PR-B except for a 165 amino acid deletion at the N-terminus, exposing an inhibitory domain that represses steroid hormone transcriptional activity.

In its inactive state, PgR forms a multiprotein complex with heat shock proteins and immunophilins. Upon progesterone binding, conformational changes enable receptor dimerization and binding to progesterone response elements (PRE), leading to transcriptional activation.
A null mutation in the PGR gene results in pleiotrophic reproductive abnormalities.
