Product Specific Information

M710 targets IFN alpha in ELISA applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is recombinant human IFN alpha 2b.
M710 detects IFN alpha with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 19 kDa.
This antibody has been tested for endotoxins using the Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay and contains ≤10 EU/mg endotoxin.

Target Information

IFN alpha (Interferon alpha) is a Type I interferon belonging to a family of structurally related, species-specific proteins found exclusively in vertebrates.
Interaction of IFN alpha with its receptor activates signaling pathways involved in innate immune responses against viral infection.
In humans, the IFN alpha gene is located on chromosome 9.
Type I interferons include 14 alpha isoforms and single beta, omega, epsilon, and kappa isoforms.
Homologous molecules are found in many species, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish.
Produced primarily by plasmacytoid dendritic cells, IFN alpha plays a key role in antiviral defense and immune modulation.
Dysfunction of IFN alpha is associated with diseases such as Hepatitis C and Hepatitis.
