Product Specific Information

M710B targets IFN alpha in ELISA applications and shows reactivity with Human samples.
The immunogen used is recombinant human IFN alpha 2b.
M710B detects IFN alpha, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 19 kDa.

Target Information

IFN alpha (Interferon alpha) is a Type I interferon belonging to a family of structurally related, species-specific proteins found in vertebrates.
Interaction of IFN-alpha with its receptor components activates signaling pathways involved in innate immune responses against viral infection.
In humans, the IFN alpha gene is located on chromosome 9.
Type I interferons include 14 alpha isoforms and single beta, omega, epsilon, and kappa isoforms.
Homologous molecules are present in various species including rodents, birds, reptiles, and fish.
Produced mainly by plasmacytoid dendritic cells, IFN alpha is a key component of the antiviral innate immune response and modulates adaptive immunity.
Dysfunction of IFN alpha is associated with diseases such as Hepatitis C and Hepatitis.
