Product Specific Information
The M805 anti-EGF antibody (Clone 1H11) has successfully been paired as the coating antibody in a sandwich ELISA with detection antibody M806B (biotinylated conjugate of Clone 3A8).
Typical dilutions for sandwich ELISA include 1–3 µg/mL for coating and 0.125–0.5 µg/mL for detection.
Target Information
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) binds to the EGF receptor (EGFR), a 170 kDa protein kinase. Activation of EGFR initiates diverse cellular signaling pathways in response to environmental stimuli or ligand binding. EGFR forms homo- or heterodimers with other family members, each triggering distinct signaling cascades via recruitment of SH2-containing effector proteins.
EGF is expressed in kidney, cerebrum, prostate, and salivary glands, acting as a potent mitogenic factor. Phosphorylated EGFR recruits adapter proteins such as GRB2, activating downstream pathways including RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, PLCγ-PKC, and STAT modules.
It may also play a role in NF-κB signaling. Defects in the EGF gene are associated with hypomagnesemia type 4 and dysregulation has been linked to cancer progression.
