Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of TIE2 only when phosphorylated at Ser1119.

Target Information

The TEK receptor tyrosine kinase is expressed almost exclusively in endothelial cells. TEK signaling is critical for endothelial cell–smooth muscle cell communication during venous morphogenesis, and defects in TEK are associated with inherited venous malformations. The ligand angiopoietin-1 binds to this receptor and mediates a signaling pathway essential for embryonic vascular development. Immunoblotting studies show that TIE2 expression is increased by thyroid-stimulating hormone and agents that elevate intracellular cAMP. Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) expressing TIE2 are quiescent and antiapoptotic, comprising a subpopulation that adheres to osteoblasts in the bone marrow niche.
