Product Specific Information

The epitope of BT164 was mapped in the N-terminal tail of histone H3 (27-KSAPAT-32) and includes apoptosis-induced trimethylation of K27.


Target Information

H3K27me3 is the epigenetic mark where histone H3 is trimethylated at lysine residue 27. It serves as an epigenetic silencing mark associated with downregulation of nearby genes and is often found in heterochromatin regions.
H3K27me3 is mainly located at inactive gene promoters and opposes the activating mark H3K4me3. It is closely associated with developmental regulators.
EZH2 (PRC2 complex) acts as the histone methyltransferase (writer) for H3K27me3, while UTX and JMJD3 function as demethylases (erasers).
Regulation of H3K27me3 is critical for gene expression control, and its dysregulation has been implicated in various diseases including cancer.
H3K27me3 antibodies are widely used for Western blot and ChIP analyses to study changes in levels and occupancy of this mark.
