Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, composed predominantly of three major proteins: NF-L, NF-M, and NF-H. NF-H plays an important role in maintaining neuronal caliber and is involved in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Expression of neuronal intermediate filament proteins is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
