Target Information

FITC (fluorescein isothiocyanate) is a fluorochrome dye that absorbs ultraviolet or blue light, causing molecules to emit visible yellow-green light. This emission ceases upon removal of the excitation light.
Fluorochrome labeling provides rapid and accurate localization of antigen-antibody interactions when one reactant is part of a cell, tissue, or biological structure.
FITC is a common marker for antibodies in immunofluorescent techniques because conjugation to proteins is simple and generally preserves biological activity.
It is widely used as a hapten to label different proteins. Anti-FITC antibodies can isolate FITC-labeled cells using magnetic microbeads or remove background signals.
