Product Specific Information
Reconstitution:
Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening to collect contents at the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water to 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex. The solution can be stored at 2–8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, dilute in buffer containing 0.1% BSA and store aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
Storage:
Lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for 1 month but should be kept at -20°C for long-term storage, preferably desiccated. Working aliquots with carrier protein are stable for at least 3 months at -80°C to -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
Fibroblast growth factor 4 (FGF4) belongs to the FGF family with broad mitogenic and cell survival activities. It plays crucial roles in stem cell growth and survival during embryogenesis, tissue regeneration, and carcinogenesis. FGF4 exhibits potent angiogenic activity and is expressed in various highly vascularized tumors as well as adult mouse testis, intestine, and brain.
Mouse homolog studies indicate roles in bone morphogenesis and limb development via the sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling pathway. FGF4 also regulates neural progenitor proliferation and neuronal differentiation. Recent findings suggest FGF4 promotes human embryonic stem cell growth and may participate in feedback inhibition mechanisms through splice isoforms influencing differentiation.
