Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) are transmembrane glycoproteins expressed by natural killer cells and subsets of T cells. The KIR genes are polymorphic and highly homologous, located on chromosome 19q13.4 within the leukocyte receptor complex (LRC).
KIR proteins are classified by:
- Number of extracellular immunoglobulin domains (2D or 3D)
- Cytoplasmic domain length (L for long, S for short)
KIR proteins with long cytoplasmic domains transduce inhibitory signals via immune tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIM), while short forms associate with TYRO protein tyrosine kinase binding protein to mediate activating signals.
Ligands for several KIR proteins are subsets of HLA class I molecules, suggesting an important regulatory role in immune response.
