Target Information
CAMKK1 (CAMKKA) is a serine/threonine protein kinase belonging to the Ca²⁺/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase subfamily. CaMKKα is part of the nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) DNA-binding transcription complex, which translocates to the nucleus upon T cell receptor stimulation. This family of transcription factors plays a key role in inducible gene transcription during immune responses. CAMKK1 serves as a molecular target for immunosuppressive drugs such as cyclosporin A. Five transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified, potentially regulating expression of different cytokine genes.
