- In direct ELISAs, 100% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse (rm) beta-NGF and recombinant rat (rr) beta-NGF is observed.
- Less than 5% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) BDNF, rhNT-3, and rhNT-4 is observed.
- Neutralizes the bioactivity of rh beta-NGF, rm beta-NGF, and rr beta-NGF.
- Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level: <0.10 EU per 1 µg of antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
Nerve growth factor (NGF) influences the survival and differentiation of various neuronal and non-neuronal cells by binding to specific cell surface receptors.
Only the high affinity receptor form is capable of signal transduction.
NGF forms a 158,000 Mr complex with its high affinity receptor and a 100,000 Mr complex with its low affinity receptor.
Human and rat NGF receptor genes show >90% homology.
NGF regulates growth and differentiation of sympathetic and sensory neurons and is involved in embryonic neuronal development.
Mutations in NGF are linked to hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type 5 (HSAN5) and dysregulation is associated with allergic rhinitis.
