In direct ELISAs, this antibody shows approximately 60% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse Syndecan-1 and no cross-reactivity with recombinant human Syndecan-2, Syndecan-3, or mouse Syndecan-4.
Target Information
CD138 (Syndecan-1) is a transmembrane proteoglycan that binds various cytokines and modulates their activity as well as extracellular matrix interactions. It is mainly expressed in differentiating keratinocytes, transiently upregulated upon tissue injury, and highly expressed on plasma cells. CD138 expression correlates with cancer progression, and soluble sCD138 levels can serve as a prognostic cancer marker.
