Product Specific Information

Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10–20 minutes followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Following antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is prostate carcinoma or placenta tissue.


Target Information

Insulin-like growth factor-II messenger RNA (mRNA)-binding protein-3 (IMP-3), also known as K homology domain-containing protein overexpressed in cancer (KOC) and L523S, is a member of the insulin-like growth factor-II mRNA-binding protein family.
It is expressed during embryogenesis and in certain malignancies. IMP-3 is expressed in malignant melanoma but not in benign nevi, even when dysplastic features are present.
IMP-3 shows higher expression in melanomas than Spitz nevi and is significantly more expressed in metastatic melanomas compared to thin melanomas.
IMP-3 may be involved in the progression of malignant melanoma and play an important role in regulating the biological behavior of this tumor.
