Product Specific Information

Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 1 mM EDTA buffer (pH 8.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes. After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature. A suggested positive control is placenta tissue.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is the 80-kDa subunit of the Ku heterodimer protein, also known as ATP-dependent DNA helicase II or DNA repair protein XRCC5. Ku is the DNA-binding component of the DNA-dependent protein kinase and functions with the DNA ligase IV–XRCC4 complex in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks by non-homologous end joining and in V(D)J recombination events. This gene complements the Chinese hamster xrs-6 mutant defective in double-strand break repair and V(D)J recombination. A rare microsatellite polymorphism in this gene is associated with cancer in patients of varying radiosensitivity.
