Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with the primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is colon adenocarcinoma tissue.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin family. Keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for maintaining the structural integrity of epithelial cells.
They are divided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. Type I cytokeratins are acidic proteins arranged in heterotypic pairs with type II keratins.
Cytokeratin 20 is a major cellular protein in mature enterocytes and goblet cells, specifically expressed in gastric and intestinal mucosa.
Type I cytokeratin genes are clustered in the chromosome region 17q12–q21.
