The 9B1 antibody recognizes CCR9 at the N-terminus. CCR9 is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family and is involved in T cell development in the thymus and in gut-associated immune responses. Mouse CCR9 is highly expressed in different stages of thymocytes and upregulated on CD4+CD8+ cells.

Target Information

The CCR9 protein belongs to the beta chemokine receptor family and functions as a seven transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor. Chemokines and their receptors regulate thymocyte migration and maturation under normal and inflammatory conditions. The specific ligand for CCR9 is CCL25. This gene is differentially expressed in T lymphocytes of the small intestine and colon, suggesting a role in thymocyte recruitment and immune specialization in the gastrointestinal tract. The gene is located within the chemokine receptor gene cluster region, and two alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
