Target Information
CYR61 is a secreted heparin-binding protein encoded by a growth factor-inducible immediate-early gene. It associates with the extracellular matrix and connective tissue and belongs to the CCN family of angiogenic and vasculogenic regulators, including CTGF and Fisp12.
As an angiogenic inducer, CYR61 binds to integrin αvβ3, stimulating cell adhesion, migration, and DNA synthesis in human vascular endothelial cells. Its expression increases during vessel growth, wound healing, and chondrocyte differentiation, and it is detected in various tumors as a marker of tumor progression.
