Target Information
CYR61 is a secreted heparin-binding protein encoded by a growth factor-inducible immediate-early gene. It associates with the extracellular matrix and connective tissue and belongs to the CCN family of angiogenic regulators, including CTGF and Fisp12.
CYR61 binds to integrin αvβ3, promoting cell adhesion, migration, and DNA synthesis in human vascular endothelial cells. Its expression increases during vessel growth, wound healing, and chondrocyte differentiation. CYR61 is often detected in tumors, where it induces growth and serves as a marker of tumor progression.
